LOOP Fair Barcelona 2021, Galería Albarrán Bourdais is pleased to announce its participation in LOOP Fair Barcelona 2021. The fair will take place from November 16 until November 18. The gallery is delighted to showcase an outstanding video made by Fernando Sánchez Castillo called Pegasus Dance, 2008. Pegasus Dance features a choreography performed by riot trucks. It exhibits a fantasy in which the function of these artifacts created to repress and control the will of the citizens is reseved.Transformed into performative objects, these vehicles of the Rotterdam police dance and create steps or movements that resemble ancestral dance rites or behaviors of certain animal species. They remind me of the courtship between birds or fish. The appearance of the Port Authority control boat adds an element of greater dissonance and strangeness in which the control forces join in manoeuvers difficult to catalog but with a strong romantic content in all senses. Changes of scale, water, clouds, landscape, windmills, cargo ships full of containers...  Exploring the performatic and aesthetic potential of these objects as opposed to their police effectiveness was the Leitmotiv of the project. To convince the Dutch administrators and to justify the event to the tax payers I argued that, as an artist I was coordinating exercises to improve the effectiveness of the agents. Felix Duque, one of the first to see and comment on this strange event,  said: “What power truly fears is impotence”
