Cristina Lucas
Born in Jaén in 1973. Lives and works in Madrid, Spain.
With her work, Cristina Lucas, reminds us that art is a way of seduction that contributes to make us aware of what is happening in our society. Interested in the mechanisms of power, she analyzes the main political and economic structures, dissecting them to reveal the existing contradictions between official history, reality and collective memory. Lucas faces the flow of information and structures it into cartographies, installations or images, creating possible readings, although always unfinished.
Her work has been presented in solo exhibitions at Kunstruimte De Nederlandsche Bank, Amsterdam (2019, NL); MUDAM, Luxemburg (2016, LU); Kunstraum Innsbruck (2014, AU); Matadero Madrid (2014,ES); Stedelijk Museum, Schiedam (2008, NL); Dos de Mayo Art Centre, Madrid (2009, ES); Carrillo Gil Art Museum, Mexico City (2010, MX). She also took part in the 28th Sao Paulo Biennial (2008) and the Liverpool Biennial 10 (2010) as well as Manifesta 12 in Palermo.
