Ugo Rondinone

Ugo Rondinone was born in 1964 in Brunnen (Switzerland), lives and works in New York (USA). Among his works are mixed media installations that include sculpture, painting, video, sound and photography. His wide-ranging practice uses metaphorical and iconographic images such as clouds, animals and figures, as well as powerful declarative sayings.

 

Recent solo exhibitions include: good evening beautiful blue, Bass Museum of Art, Miami, USA. your age my age and the age of the rainbow, at the Garage Museum of Contemporary art, Moscow, Russia and then at the Casa Wabi Foundation, Oaxaca, Mexico; let’s meet at the parade, Swiss Cultural Center, Paris, France; golden days + silver nights, Macro and Mercati e Foro di Traiano, Rome; seven magic mountains, Art Production Fund and Nevada Museum of Art; becoming soil, Carré d’Art, Nimes; everytime the sun comes up, Place Vendôme, Paris; vocabulary of solitude, Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam; i heart john giorno, Palais de Tokyo, Paris; and breathe walk die,, Rockbund Art Museum, Shanghai and then at the Arken Museum of Modern Art, Ishøj, Denmark.

 

His work is in the collections of MoMA, New York; ICA, Boston; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; Bass Museum, Miami; Carnegie Museum, Pittsburgh; New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York; Des Moines Art Center; and Dallas Museum of Art among others.
